This notice explains what personal data this website collects, why, and what rights you have over it, as required by the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679, “GDPR”) and the Italian Personal Data Protection Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003).
In short: we do not use analytics, advertising or profiling of any kind. We only receive the data you choose to send us — a job application, a bug report, a message — plus the technical data every web server needs to deliver a page.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Meteorological and Environmental Earth Observation S.r.l. (MEEO S.r.l.), registered office Via Antonio Frizzi 21, 44121 Ferrara (FE), Italy, VAT and tax code 01629630383.
For anything concerning your personal data, write to info@meeo.it.
2. Browsing data
Like any website, the servers that deliver this site receive some technical data with each request: the IP address of your device, the page requested, the date and time, the browser and operating system, and the address of the page you came from.
- Why: to deliver the pages, keep the site secure and working, and prevent abuse — for example, the forms refuse more than a few submissions in ten minutes from the same address.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: the counter that limits form submissions is held in memory for ten minutes. Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, and then deleted, unless they are needed to investigate an incident or at the request of the authorities.
This data is not used to identify you or to build a profile of your visits.
3. Job applications
When you apply through the Work with Us page, we receive your name, email address, telephone number (if you give it), the position you are applying for, your cover letter and your CV.
- Why: to assess your application and contact you about it.
- Legal basis: steps taken at your request before a possible employment or collaboration contract (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR); for applications sent on your own initiative, art. 111-bis of the Italian Data Protection Code.
- How long: for the duration of the selection and for up to 24 months afterwards, so that we can consider you for other openings — unless you ask us to delete it sooner.
- Who sees it: the people at MEEO involved in the selection. The application reaches us by email.
The fields marked as required are needed to consider your application. Please do not include in your CV information we have not asked for, particularly health data or other special categories of data (art. 9 GDPR), unless required by law — for example, membership of a protected category under Law 68/1999.
4. Messages you send us
When you write to us — by email or through the form on the Contacts page — we receive your name, email address, organisation (if you give it) and whatever you write.
- Why: to answer you and, where relevant, to follow up on the request.
- Legal basis: steps taken at your request (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in answering the people who contact us (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: as long as needed to deal with your request, and in any case no longer than 24 months after the last exchange, unless it leads to a contract.
5. Bug reports
The Report a bug form sends us your description of the problem, the page concerned, your browser and screen size and, only if you give it, your email address.
- Why: to find and fix the problem, and to reply to you if you asked us to.
- Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the site working (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- How long: until the problem is resolved, and no longer than 12 months.
6. Embedded videos
Some pages show videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo. The player is not loaded until you press play: before that you only see a still image (for YouTube videos, that image comes from YouTube’s image server, which receives your IP address but sets no cookies). Once you press play, the video player is delivered by Google (YouTube, in its privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo, which receive your IP address and may store data on your device under their own policies (Google, Vimeo). These companies may transfer data to the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Links to our social media profiles are plain links: nothing is exchanged with those networks unless you follow them.
7. Who else handles your data
We do not sell or share your data. It is handled only by MEEO staff who need it, and by the providers who host the website and deliver our email, acting as data processors under a contract with us (art. 28 GDPR). Apart from the video services described above, the data stays within the European Union. It may be disclosed to public authorities where the law requires it.
8. Your rights
At any time you can ask us, free of charge, to:
- tell you whether we hold data about you, and give you a copy;
- correct it, or complete it;
- delete it, or restrict how we use it;
- give it to you, or to someone else, in a common electronic format;
- stop using it, where we rely on our legitimate interest to do so.
Write to info@meeo.it; we will reply within one month. If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you can also lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or with the authority of the EU country where you live or work.
We make no automated decisions about you, and no profiling.
10. Changes to this notice
If what the site does with personal data changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
